Splitting the books with your team?
The OBOB handbook suggests that on a team of four, each reader becomes the expert on four books (three in grades 9–12). In BookBright, a reader can focus a round on just one of their books, then mix in the whole list before battle day.
The official lists
Oregon Battle of the Books publishes the lists each spring. Title selection committees choose the books from hundreds of public nominations, and students at the state tournament vote in one more title for each division. If a list ever changes, theirs is the one that counts, and we update this page to match.
BookBright is an independent study app. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Oregon Battle of the Books.
Can you name the book?
Half of every OBOB battle is In Which Book questions, and these three work the same way. Every answer choice comes from the same list, just like in the app.
Pick your division
Finish the round to earn a sticker from one of the books.
Both halves of an OBOB battle
In Which Book and Content practice for every book on all three lists, and rewards that keep readers coming back for one more round.

In What Book
Half of every OBOB battle. A moment from the story and four titles from your list, each shown with its author, because Oregon scores both.

Book Trivia
The other half. Like OBOB’s Content questions, each one asks for a name, a place, or a small detail from inside one book.

Flashcards and weak spots
The books a reader misses come back around, so study time goes where it counts.

Every right answer earns something
Stickers for every book, badges, streaks, and mastery levels from Newbie to Battle Ready.
All 44 books, ready for battle day
Every book on the grades 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12 lists is here, alongside hundreds of other Battle of the Books titles from lists across the country, so readers never run out. Start a battle, collect stickers, and watch each book go from Newbie to Battle Ready. Free to start, on the web and in the app.
