Built by teachers. Loved by students.
BookBright is the work of two educators who've spent their careers helping kids fall in love with reading and walk into competitions confident.
Who we are
BookBright is made by two educators in Missoula, Montana who spent years getting kids ready for Battle of the Books. We set out to build the study tool we always wished we had, one that drills the exact question formats a battle uses and makes practice feel like play, so battle day feels like a game they've already played.
Meet the team
Robin Nygren
Elementary Librarian & Battle Coach
Robin is an elementary school librarian who has coached Battle of the Books teams and run battle events at her school. Year after year she watched strong readers freeze on the exact kind of recall a battle demands, and could never find a study tool built for the format. She mapped out what one should do, question type by question type, and BookBright grew from those notes.
Mark Nygren
Former Educator & Builder
Mark is a former educator who now builds software. When Robin described the tool her students actually needed, he set out to build it, obsessing over making practice feel like a game instead of a worksheet. He owns the code, the question pipeline, and the late-night bug fixes.
