BookBright is made by two educators in Missoula, Montana. We've spent our careers helping kids fall in love with reading, and years getting our own students ready for Battle of the Books.
We built the study tool we needed. It drills the exact question formats a battle uses and makes practice feel like play, so when the first question comes at a student on battle day, it's the thousandth one they've heard.
Meet the team
Robin Nygren
Elementary Librarian & Battle Coach
Robin has spent her career bouncing happily between art, literacy, design, technology, and education. She's taught kindergarten through high school, but the library is definitely her favorite place to be. She loves watching kids discover a book they didn't expect to like and find confidence in something that once felt hard.
She loves long runs, clever design, and messy creative projects that take way longer than intended. She's happiest creating something useful, helping a kid feel successful, or finding a way to make learning feel a little more interesting.
Robin lives in Missoula, Montana with her brilliant husband, Mark, their two adorable kids, and a household that has never been short on great books, art supplies, or dog hair.
Mark Nygren
Former Educator & Builder
Mark taught high school social studies for over a decade before pivoting to edtech, where he works in product management. He still thinks like a teacher. He just builds tools and apps instead of lesson plans.
He's also an audio engineer and musician, and playing, recording, and teaching music is where most of his free time goes. Over the years he's dabbled in animation, long distance running, and soccer coaching, but mostly he just loves to learn and try new things.
He lives in the same Missoula house Robin described, and sharing it with her and their two kids is the best thing he has going. The instruments, cables, and half-finished recordings are his.
