When Joon follows Cheong onto the bride's boat, sixteen-year-old Mina swims after him, and as a dragon rises, she shouts "Take me instead!" and leaps into the sea in Cheong's place. She wakes in the Spirit Realm, a city of gods and spirits, with a red ribbon called the Red String of Fate tied to her hand. Soon a masked young lord has taken her soul, and she learns that after thirty days in this realm she will become a spirit. With one month and a few unlikely helpers, Mina sets out to break what she believes is a curse on the sleeping Sea God and end the storms.
