ABOUT THE BOOK
NO SPOILERSTwelve-year-old Ivy Aberdeen feels invisible in her own family. Ever since her baby twin brothers were born, her mother barely has time for her, and even her older sister, Layla, feels like a stranger lately. At night, Ivy pours her real feelings into a secret notebook full of drawings, including pictures of two girls holding hands inside a treehouse, something she has never shown anyone. Then a tornado flattens the Aberdeens' farmhouse in rural Georgia, and after a night at a crowded emergency shelter, the notebook goes missing. The family ends up crammed into one room at a bed-and-breakfast called the Calliope Inn while Ivy tries to piece her life back together with borrowed clothes and a new notebook. Then, as soon as she is back at school, pages from it start appearing in her locker one at a time, left by someone who won't say who they are. While Ivy tries to figure out who has her drawings, she grows close to June Somerset, a funny, talkative classmate with a treehouse of her own, and starts to wonder if the fluttery feeling she gets around June is a crush.
