Data Deletion

BookBright is operated by Next Chapter Education LLC. You can delete part of your data (a single student profile) or everything (your whole account) at any time, directly in the app or by email. This page explains each option, what gets deleted, and what we keep.

Delete a student profile (keep your account)

Deleting a student profile permanently removes that student’s data without affecting your account or other profiles:

  1. Open the BookBright app and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Find the student’s profile card and choose Delete.
  3. Confirm. Deletion takes effect immediately.

This permanently deletes the profile’s display name, avatar and grade selection, study history and quiz attempts, mastery progress, sticker collection, badges, and book list assignments.

Delete your entire account

  1. In the mobile app: Profile tab, scroll to the bottom, and choose Delete account.
  2. On the web: sign in at bookbright.app, open Account, and choose Delete account.

Account deletion removes your parent account, every student profile under it, and all associated data. Active subscriptions are managed by the store you purchased through (App Store, Google Play, or Stripe) and should be canceled there; deleting your account does not charge or refund anything by itself.

Request deletion by email

You can also request deletion of any or all of your data, without using the app, by emailing contact@bookbright.app from the email address on the account. Tell us whether you want a specific student profile deleted or the whole account. We verify the request and complete it within 30 days. Parents and guardians can use this route to exercise their COPPA rights to review or delete a child’s data at any time.

What is deleted, and what we keep

Deleted: account email and login, student profile details, study history and quiz attempts, mastery progress, stickers and badges, book lists, and push notification tokens. Account data is deleted within 30 days of an account deletion request; profile deletions in the app take effect immediately.

Kept: purchase and subscription records held by the payment processors (Apple, Google Play, and Stripe/RevenueCat) as required for financial and legal record-keeping; crash diagnostics that are not linked to your identity and expire automatically; and anonymized aggregate statistics that cannot identify you or your students.
