When she fails the entrance exam for Sage Academy (the prestigious school where her father is headmaster), he sends her to live with her Aunt Margo in Dunwiddle, where she must enroll in the school's brand-new Upside-Down Magic class, a program for students whose abilities don't fit any normal category.
