NO SPOILERSEdward Tulane is a proud china rabbit who lives on Egypt Street with a ten-year-old girl named Abilene Tulane, the one person who loves him completely. Edward wears fine silk suits, carries a gold pocket watch, and thinks very highly of himself, but he does not love Abilene back, or anyone else. When the Tulane family sets sail for London on the Queen Mary, two mischievous boys on the ship toss Edward overboard, and he sinks all the way to the ocean floor, alone, unable to move or call for help, with no one coming to rescue him.
