Then her mom's old friend drops off a daughter named Iris on Magnolia's birthday, and after a cruel customer sends the sock board crashing to the floor, Iris rescues the socks and proposes something Magnolia never considered: instead of waiting for answers to come to her, the two of them will go find them, returning each sock to its rightful owner while Iris gets a real introduction to New York City.
