Fifty dollars would buy him the mini-bike he has been dreaming about, and Billy figures that if worms are just dirt, how bad can they really be? What follows is a summer of boiled, fried, smothered, and creamed worms, with Billy determined to win while Alan and his scheming friend Joe do everything they can to make him quit.
