Chip discovers on the same day that he, too, was adopted, a secret his parents had hidden from him his whole life. As more threatening letters arrive and a stranger from the FBI refuses to answer their questions, Jonah, Chip, and Jonah's quick-witted sister Katherine begin to suspect that being adopted is only the beginning of a much stranger story about who they really are and where, or rather when, they came from.
